The cheapest RMM for under 100 endpoints: real totals, not headline prices

Insights By The Helios team  ·  6 min read

The cheapest RMM at 50 endpoints is rarely the one with the smallest number on its pricing page. Headline prices are written to win the comparison table, and the comparison table never includes remote access seats, third-party patching, a PSA licence or a 50-endpoint minimum that quietly doubles a small fleet's bill. If you are searching for the cheapest RMM for under 100 endpoints, whether the machines belong to clients or to your own company, the honest answer starts with the pricing model, not the brand. This piece works the totals at 50, 75 and 100 endpoints and leaves you with a worksheet you can run against any vendor's page.

Under 100 endpoints, the pricing model decides who is cheapest

Every vendor you will shortlist bills in one of three ways, and each one has a different sweet spot.

  • Per endpoint. Usually quote-only, and quotes for small fleets commonly land somewhere between £2 and £4 per endpoint per month for the core product. The trap at this size is the minimum commitment: a vendor that quotes £3 per endpoint with a 50-endpoint minimum charges you for 50 whether you monitor 30 or 50. Below the minimum, your effective per-endpoint price rises the fewer machines you have, which is exactly backwards for a small operation.
  • Per technician. Priced per person who logs in, endpoints unmetered. This model rewards high device-to-tech ratios, so it looks brilliant at one technician and 100 endpoints and merely fine at three technicians and 60. Watch the plan tiers: the features you actually need, network discovery, better remote access, reporting, often sit two tiers up from the advertised price.
  • Flat rate. One monthly figure for the whole fleet up to a stated size, everything included. There is no arithmetic to do, which is the point. We have written separately about how flat rate RMM pricing works and when it beats the alternatives; the short version is that under 100 endpoints it usually does, provided every feature really is on every plan.

The extras the headline price leaves out

Whichever model you are quoted, the loaded price is what lands on the invoice. These are the items that most often turn a £150 headline into a £300 reality:

  • Remote access seats. Some platforms bundle a proper remote tool; others include a cut-down viewer and charge for the one your technicians will actually use, per seat, per month. If you would end up buying a separate remote access product anyway, add it to the total now.
  • Third-party patching. Windows updates are usually included. Patching Chrome, Zoom, Adobe and the rest of the estate is frequently an add-on billed per endpoint. On a fleet where users install their own software, skipping it is not really an option, so treat it as core cost.
  • The PSA. Monitoring without ticketing is half a stack. If the RMM has no helpdesk, price a PSA alongside it, typically billed per technician. Our guide to the best PSA for small MSPs covers what that layer should include.
  • Minimums and onboarding fees. Endpoint minimums, one-off implementation charges and mandatory annual terms all belong in month-one and month-twelve totals, not in a footnote.
  • Currency. Many vendors invoice in dollars. A UK buyer should convert at a pessimistic rate and accept that the figure will move.

We keep a longer inventory of these in the real cost of RMM, but the five above account for most of the gap at small fleet sizes.

The arithmetic at 50, 75 and 100 endpoints

The figures below are illustrative, using assumptions you can swap for your own: two technicians, remote access and third-party patching on every endpoint, and ticketing included in the total because you need it either way.

Model and assumptions50 endpoints75 endpoints100 endpoints
Per endpoint: £3 base, plus roughly £1 per endpoint in patching and remote access add-ons, plus a PSA at £60 per technician£320£420£520
Per technician: two seats at roughly £130 each on the tier that includes what you need, ticketing bundled£260£260£260
Flat plan: one all-inclusive monthly price for the whole fleet£99£99£99

Two things fall out of that table. First, per-endpoint pricing punishes exactly the buyer this article is for, because the add-ons scale with the fleet while the PSA cost sits on top regardless. Second, per-technician pricing is flat across fleet growth but jumps in £130 steps every time you hire, which makes your tooling cost a function of headcount rather than workload. If you want to sanity-check your own figure against the wider market, our 2026 RMM pricing comparison walks through what the named vendors actually charge.

Rule of thumb: if you cannot reconstruct your total monthly cost, to the pound, from a vendor's public pricing page, treat any quote you receive as an opening bid rather than a price.

Free tiers, honestly

Several vendors offer a free tier at very small endpoint counts, and for a one-person IT department with a dozen machines they can be genuinely useful. Be clear-eyed about what free means, though. The caps are usually tight, often below the fleet size you will have within a year. The features stripped out are rarely decorative: automated patching, scripting, proper remote access and any form of ticketing tend to be the first to go, and support is community-only. A free tier that costs you two hours a week of manual patching is not free, it is a wage bill wearing a price tag of zero. Use them to learn a product, not to run a business on.

A worksheet for any vendor on your shortlist

The invoice test: before you sign anything, write the invoice you expect to receive in month one and month thirteen. If you cannot, you do not know the price yet.

  1. Start with the base. Endpoint count times per-endpoint rate, or seats times per-technician rate, on the tier that includes the features you need, not the advertised one.
  2. Add the add-ons. Third-party patching, remote access seats, network monitoring, reporting. Anything you would buy separately if it were missing goes in the total.
  3. Add the PSA. If ticketing, time tracking and billing are not included, price them per technician and add them. Skip this and you will compare a half-stack against a whole one.
  4. Apply minimums and terms. Round up to any endpoint minimum, amortise onboarding fees over twelve months, and note whether the price requires an annual commitment.
  5. Convert the currency. If the invoice is in dollars, convert at a rate worse than today's.
  6. Divide by endpoints. The loaded per-endpoint figure is the only number that lets you compare a per-tech vendor, a per-endpoint vendor and a flat plan on equal terms.

Where this fits with Helios

Helios publishes its prices, which makes the worksheet short. Fleets of 5 to 25 devices pay £4 per device on the Launch tier; beyond that, flat plans start at £99 a month, and every feature, monitoring, patching, remote access, ticketing, time tracking and billing, is on every plan, so there are no add-on rows to fill in. The full breakdown is on the pricing page, alongside our research on what competitors charge. Most of the discipline in this article, pricing the whole stack rather than the headline, applies whichever vendor you choose. We have simply tried to make the sum a short one.
