Datto RMM vs HaloITSM
People compare Datto RMM and HaloITSM as if you pick one. You usually do not: one runs the machines, the other runs the work. Here is what each does, what each costs, and how they fit together.
Written with respect. We ran an MSP on several of the products we compare, we rate them, and without them Helios would not exist. These pages are here because buyers deserve the facts, not because we want a fight.
The short answer
- Datto RMM is remote monitoring and management: it watches devices, patches them, runs scripts and gives you remote access.
- HaloITSM is service management: tickets, SLAs, requests, changes and a portal. Halo sells ITSM and PSA as one platform at one price.
- Halo publishes its price: £66 an agent a month billed annually, every module included, with a required onboarding package (checked 28 September 2026).
- Datto RMM is quote-only; reported at about $2.50 to $4.50 a device a month.
- Halo's own integration imports Datto devices and sites daily, turns Datto alerts into Halo tickets and closes them together, and adds open-in-Datto and remote-control buttons to each asset.
- If you would rather run one product, platforms that include both an RMM and a service desk remove the second licence and the integration.
What each one does
| Datto RMM | HaloITSM | |
|---|---|---|
| Category | Remote monitoring and management | IT service management (and PSA) |
| Core job | Monitor, patch, script and remote into devices | Tickets, SLAs, requests, changes, knowledge base, portal |
| Priced by | Device, quote-only | Agent (technician), published |
| Price | About $2.50 to $4.50 a device a month Reported | £66 an agent a month, annual, plus onboarding List |
| Owned by | Kaseya | Halo Service Solutions |
So the honest answer to Datto RMM versus HaloITSM is that it is not an either-or. A team that manages machines needs an RMM. A team that promises response times needs a service desk. The real questions are how well the two talk to each other, and whether you want two products at all.
How the Halo and Datto RMM integration works
Halo documents its own Datto RMM integration. In Halo's words, devices and sites from Datto are imported and created in Halo, and with the Halo Integrator switched on they are updated daily.
- Alerts become tickets. An alert raised in Datto logs a ticket in Halo, and resolving one resolves the other.
- Webhooks or email. Alerts arrive by webhook, which Halo recommends, or by an alert mailbox, which is slower.
- Shortcuts on each asset. Imported devices get Open in Datto RMM and Open in Datto RMM Remote Tool buttons, so agents can jump from a ticket to the machine.
What it does not do is make them one system: two logins, two sets of permissions, two bills, and a daily sync in between.
What the pair costs
For a five-technician team with 250 devices, on the figures above: HaloITSM is 5 × £66 = £330 a month on annual billing, plus onboarding. Datto RMM at about $2.50 to $4.50 a device is roughly $625 to $1,125 a month. Two products, two contracts, two renewal dates.
Datto's renewal terms sit under Kaseya's paper, which commonly defaults to three years with an auto-renewal window that is easy to miss (reported). See Datto RMM pricing and Halo pricing for the detail.
When one product is better
If the reason you are comparing them is that you want fewer tools, look at platforms that include both. Helios covers both jobs and more in one product: the service desk with SLAs, patching including third-party apps, remote access, Microsoft 365 and Defender checks, backup monitoring, network discovery, a client portal, reports and QBRs, billing into Xero or QuickBooks, and Helio, the AI technician that investigates problems, writes the fix and runs it. It is priced by fleet size rather than per technician: $249 a month for up to 250 devices and any number of technicians, every feature on every plan, and a price locked while you stay subscribed. Alerts and tickets are the same record, so there is nothing to sync.
If you need Halo's depth in change management, contracts and CRM, the pair is the stronger choice, and the integration is well documented.
